New Tutorial Incoming..

I’ve got a new tutorial coming soon, and here is a sneak peak at some of the content coming in it. It’s just a simple tutorial on how to add tabs to your website like there are on this site [edit: on the old layout, check out the demo page], it’s a lot of Javascript and some CSS. The method I’m going to outline uses the moo.fx Javascript library. This preview consists of an example page I’m working on using in this tutorial, and a zip file containing all the files I’m using to create it.

My Latest Project

My latest major project has been the complete rebuilding of the missouri state resnet website. It’s been entirely reworked using PHP, Javascript, and tons of CSS.  The new site is much more user friendly to navigate, is very easily expandable and almost any site wide changes can be made with just the modification of a single file, making maintaining the site much easier and more streamlined.  An expansion of the site’s content has also been completed.  The site can access by visiting http://resnet.missouristate.edu, the site does look noticeably different in IE than in any other browser this is due to some limitations that I was unable to work around with the two style sheet method.

The Truth about The 360

This material is taken from the 1up Yours podcast of 18 August 2006, as such it is most likely copyright of 1up and/or Ziff Davis Media

Ok, now that I’ve had some time to contemplate this issue I think I can write some decently composed thoughts about the topic. I agree with almost all the comments that are presented in this clip of the 1up show podcast. beyond that I would like to say this appears to be very much in line with Microsofts plan to tie console gaming to the internet. it seems that Microsoft’s plan for the 360 is push making money off accessories and software downloads as opposed to the conventional console logic of software royalties. This may be the beginning of a new trend in gaming as consoles become more complex and internet aware. It’s an interesting new direction things are heading towards and I very much agree with shane that Microsoft is willing to take it to far in the interest of seeing what they can get away with.

New Tab Bar at the Top

As some of you may have noticed there are some new tabs up on the top right of the blog now.  These are part of an on going project to work on a theme and really make it my own, they are being made possible thanks to a modified (by me) version of the moo.fx and moo.fx.pack libraries.  The content on these tabs will probably change pretty wildly for the next few weeks to months as i work out what I want to put on them and make more changes to the libraries and my layout.  And as always with projects at bonta-kun.net, all the code is going to be free and open to use however you see fit, I’d love to get credit, but if I don’t it won’t break my heart.

This time I plan to fully document and outline this code and how to implement it.

Update…and Lost Old Themes

This is a good time to point out that the reason the theme is gone is because I upgraded wordpress to version 2.0.4, unfortunately I forgot to back up my themes and plugins, so this means that my plans to build a custom theme is most likely going to be accelerated.
