One thing I am completed lost on as of late, is the need to change things, just for the sack of change or for adding crap, one example is the new last.fm player (now just called last.fm), look at this, it’s a very busy interface, it does add some cool stuff, but it’s just a mess of a user interface.

Now let’s take a look at the original last.fm player i’ve used for ages, this is simple and clean, it has the track, artist, album, and a row of buttons across the bottom (with a little bit messed up volume bar), this is a great user interface, so why change it?

I think the reasons are two fold, one the new program also does the scrobbing (storing of recently played tracks in itunes), and it adds of a bunch of new cool features, but for the life of me I just wish there was a way to do a simple layout, iTunes does this, they have a full featured mode and a small clean view, I hope someone at last.fm decides to either clean the new interface up and include a mini mod similar to the old player’s style.

Just another user interface complaint service from your local bonta-kun, as a software developer I always find it interesting to look at user interfaces of other programs.
