a few days with a psp

well i picked up my psp on thursday of last week and since then i’ve been amazed by the games on it and the performance of this little handheld, it’s a really cool little device i’ve spent a good deal of my spring break so far playing with it, the screen is absolutely amazing i do have one big compliant, and it’s about the quality of the screen, me and a friend of mine both bought one at launch and both of ours had two bad pixels, i’ve since returned mine 3 times and came back with screens that had bad pixels, this is something i’m really unhappy about, maybe i should change my name to king of teh dead pixels, because so far with the exception of cells phones and my gameboy i haven’t bought a single lcd device that wasn’t plagued by bad pixels, the lcd industry has no excuse for this kind of behavior, they hide behind the excuse that it’s because the technology is complex, this is a complete load, i don’t see intel, amd, nvidia, or ati complaining they produce microprocessors that have millions more transistors (read: logic gates) than these lcds and you don’t see them trying to pawn off inferior products, the same goes for just about everything in technology it’s all complex and consisting of millions of components (think about software, how many lines of code) and none of them could get away with this kind of behavior, anyways the psp is very swell, but i recommend you wait a few months (if you can, i obviously couldn’t) and get one that hopefully doesn’t have this pixel problem as bad, oh and sorry for the rant

GT4 Review

well after a few weeks with GT4 and more than 50% completion i know feel that i can evaluate the game, first i’ll talk about graphics seeing how it’s of least importance, the game is flat out beatiful, i’ve had the chance to play the game at standard tv resolution as well 1080i high definition mode, the game does have one graphical flaw, and that is aliasing, it’s not that noticeable at standard tv resolution, but in 1080i high definition it is very noticeable.  moving along we get to presentation, the game’s menu system, is amazing as well, you have a world map that contains the different circuits and countries (that contain their respective manufactors and make specific races), a very nice system reminds me alot of the old system used in GT2.

ok one for the bulk of the review, gameplay.  the gameplay is what really draws you into games and this game excells at this, i’ve been hooked on this game since i picked it up, it consumes you, it absorbs what you have left of a life, it is way too much fun.  the ai could be better (still tends to just follow a line and ignore everything else, and it totally freaks out when it spins or goes off the track), but weird enough this doesn’t hamper the experience much.  the variety of races and cars in this game is absolutely amazing, there are over 700 cars in the game, and it definitely feels like it when you’re trying to pick one and they all feel unique in some way.  the one-make races are alot of fun too, you get to know how you compare to the ai, and there is something special about a race of all daihatsu midgets or something.  the new mode they’ve implemented is called b-spec, it’s where you supervise a computer controlled racer, this mode i’ve really only used to raise funds, or when i was too lazy to finish a race series (the 10 race x 10 lap ones kinda wear long you).  so i guess if i had to sum up this review in one sentence it would be something like this: incredible racing game even none racing fans will enjoy that’s very addictive and powered by an amazing engine;  or just a simple 5 out of five rating.

PSP Almost Here

today when i arrived at work (at best buy, i’m a rep for an undisclosed company), i saw the security guy at best buy was watching spiderman 2 on a sony psp, i was in awe, the american samsung screen was good as the sharp screen they had in the japanese model and it was amazing, upon some searching we found them in the back and bring you some exclusive preview pictures (from the crappy camera in my phone), they wouldn’t break the street date for me though :(

GoogleX Axed

well GoogleX got killed today it seems, like alot of other people i am hosting a mirror of the original site and a slightly tweaked one that has replaced the more icon with the gmail icon (because i’ve never looked in more, but i use gmail all the time), i really hope this is just some kind of hiatus and not permanent, because it is really cool but a bit rough, i may try to make it a bit nicer at some later date, the code is a bit of a mess at the moment (it was still beta), anyways here some links for you to enjoy (they will also be in the sidebar)

More -> Enhanced Version

Apple QC Sucks Alot

well the third laptop went back to apple today, i just asked for my money back this time (my paitence is gone), i’m still planning on getting an apple laptop, it just happens to be on hold for the moment, the current agenda looks like going to the apple retail in KC and making them open one and let me inspect it before i buy it

Tekken 5

well i imagine you’ve probably already heard how great tekken 5 is, but guess i’m going to tell you again, it’s easily the best in the series so far, the inclusion of tekken 1-3 also goes to appease those old school tekken fans (i myself was  i huge fan of tekken 2 back in the day), tekken has alway appealed to me a technical fighter, a game where a button masher really has no chance against a veteran, and tekken 5 so far seems to the be the most balanced fighting game i’ve ever played, no character has a clear advantage over another (except the uber cheap end boss of story mode), the game play is just amazing, the new characters are good (i myself have taken a liking to the new girl asuka), and the endings are also absolutely great (as always in a tekken game), anyways i highliy recommend you pick it up if you’re a fan of fighting games and have a ps2 on hand, soon i’ll post a review of GT4 as well, it’s been very addictive and i want to get more headway in the game before i start making an evaluation

One Month Later

well it’s been one month since i ordered my iBook, and well i currently have no iBook, and i’m waiting on #3 hoping that this time they can get it right, and i can finally enjoy having a portable computer that is elegate and neat, oh well i guess waiting never hurt anyone (i’m told that it builds character), i’m just getting a little impaitent with apple at the moment, a company i have great respect for is letting me down
